What Is A Cockapoo?

A bundle of love with a long kissy tongue

The closest friend you'll ever have

An energetic furball ready to play at any time

Someone who loves to cuddle up close when you need a little quiet time

Better than a blanket to warm your lap on cold nights

And the best listener you've ever met!

A cockapoo is a cross between a cocker spaniel and a poodle.  By breeding these dogs together, the expectation is that you will get the best of both breeds - the loving, sweet, gentle nature of the cocker spaniel, combined with the non-shedding, intelligent, playful side of the poodle.

Cockapoo breeders combine a cocker spaniel with a toy or miniature poodle, resulting in an "F1" or first generation cockapoo.  Breeding two F1 cockapoos results in an "F2" or second-generation cockapoo, which is what you'll find at Karen's Cockapoos.

We are a family who breeds only two dogs - our mama dog is Daisy, a first-generation buff-colored cockapoo that weighs about 13 lbs.  Daisy's parents are both AKC registered dogs - a cocker mom and a poodle dad - with provable AKC lines.  Our papa dog is Shadow, a first-generaton black cockapoo that weighs about 22 lbs.  Like Daisy, Shadow's parents are both AKC registered dogs - cocker and poodle - with provable AKC lines.

Why does that matter?  If the puppy's heritage is all AKC provable, then you know what you're getting.  Cockapoos are not AKC breeds.  Therefore, what people call a cockapoo can vary widely.  But if the parents and/or grandparents are AKC provable stock, then you know what's in your pup's genes.

At Karen's Cockapoos, we have taken the utmost care to select dogs that are healthy, have great temperaments, and that will produce wonderful family companions in their offspring.  We welcome your calls and your questions.  But if you come to visit, make sure you bring a box or blanket ... we know you won't go home empty handed!

Why Choose A Cockapoo?

Cockapoos don't shed any more than you or I do.

They live to play and cuddle.

These dogs are small enough to live in the house.

Even though they are small, they are tough enough for kids to handle.

Cockapoos are wonderful with people of all ages - kids to senior citizens.

Did we mention they don't shed?
